sent to me by email

"Why my lips stayed chapped on Mother's Day"So, we had this great 10 year old cat named Jack who just recently died. Jack was a great cat and the kids would carry him around and sit on him and nothing ever bothered him. He used to hang out and nap all day long on this mat in our bathroom.Well we have 3 kids and at the time of this story they were 4 years old, 3 years old and 1 year old. The middle one is Eli. Eli really loves chapstick. LOVES it. He kept asking to use my chapstick and then losing it. So finally one day I showed him where in the bathroom I keep mychapstick and how he could use it whenever he wanted to but he needed to put it right back in the drawer when he was done.Last year on Mother's Day, we were having the typical rush around and try to get ready for Church with everyone crying and carrying on. My two boys are fighting over the toy in the cereal box. I am trying to nurse my little one at the same time I am putting on my make-up. Everything is a mess and everyone has long forgotten that this is a wonderful day to honor me and the amazing job that is motherhood. We finally have the older one and the baby loaded in the car and I am looking for Eli. I have searched everywhere and I finally round the corner to go into the bathroom. And there was Eli. He was applying my chapstick very carefully to Jack's . . . rear end. Eli looked right into my eyes and said "chapped." Now if you have a cat, you know that he is right--their little butts do look pretty chapped. And, frankly, Jack didn't seem to mind. And the only question to really ask at that point was whether it was the FIRST time Eli had done that to the cat's behind or the hundredth. And THAT is my favorite Mother's Day moment ever because it reminds us that no matter how hard we try to civilize these glorious little creatures, there will always be that day when you realize they've been using your chapstick on the cat's butt.

8 years

It occured to us today that we have been married 8 years now. How could we forget such a thing? Trust me it wasn't hard. Ahnies tummy hurts (all night) and Rose doesn't like to be left out. I'm not sure we would have even remembered if I hadn't needed to write the date on a paper for Roses school. So heres to us darling may we have many more.

Cloth Diaper Comebacks

Clever Comebacks: From The Diaper Jungle

"Yeah, it is a pain to haul them down to the river and beat them against rocks, but it's worth it."

"Well, I save $1500.00 a year so I laugh myself to bank every Friday."

"I don't know it just seems silly to me to wrap $30.00 a week in a plastic garbage bag and throw it away....but maybe that's just me."

"What do you mean you don't have time for that? You don't have time to change your baby?"

"Oh right, washing poo off of cloth diapers is an inconvenience but if we don't then we have to wash poo off clothing, crib sheets, car seats, carpet, couches, etc. because of leaky disposables. I think we picked the easier path."

"Well, diaper duty is never fun but I sleep well at night knowing my choice doesn't involve thousands of pounds of poo wrapped in paper and plastic and stuck in the landfill for hundreds of years to come."

"Would YOU want to wear paper underwear?"

"Well, my child doesn't have diaper rash anymore so I guess their comfort is worth it."

"Oh, we have just chosen a more natural, less chemically produced, lazily dependent upon modern conveniences style of parenting that's all."

"She has a big butt you say? Well, SHE is wearing a cloth diaper underneath her clothing? What is your excuse?"

"I wouldn't wear a portable toilet on my backside so neither do my children."
Disposables diapers are the definition of wasteful, and we don't want to start our baby's life that way.

I don't want to waste my money on what will essentially be garbage...I would rather that money go into my child's piggy bank.

Earth Baby

Savings for Breastfeeding and cloth diapering

250 dallors a month

3,000 a year

This is what we are going to save this year. We have just gone natural in baby care products. Anwyn is now a cloth diaper baby (or will be when they get here). We are already breastfeeding (with the help of Suzer and Daisy). Those two are my own earth momma's! Lets just say I would have given up on the breastfeeding in the first week if it wasn't for them. So now I am I going to start cloth diapers. I have done my research and have found even with washing daily cloth diapers are the way to go. So wish us luck!

That time of the year.

Robyn

Its that time of the year when the streets begin to fill with limos teaming with teenagers in tuxes and dresses. My question is when did my sweet 9 year olds grow up? My nieces Dayna and Robyn are 17 going to the prom and are soon to graduate. I met Liam when I was their age I can still remember being 17. This all seems to strange. I can't believe how grown up they have become!

Bath

Anwyn hates baths I mean really hates them. Last night while Rose was bathing I decided to put her in and see what she thought about deep sea swimming. Strangely enough she shut her eyes and allowed her whole body to relax letting her little legs float to the surface. It was the most amazing thing to see her so content in the water. Poor little thing must have thought she was back in the womb. I wish she could have made it to her due date but I'm glad to have her. She is an amazing little girl who loves deep water.

Easter fun

Easter Egg fun!

This is our first Easter since coming back from Australia. The weather was weird it snowed most of the day. Eli, Rose and Leah had a good time running around playing together. Everyone passed little Anwyn around all day long. We had a good time and candy was consumed.

Anwyn files week 3

Anwyn has just come up to day 20 in the NICU. She is still at the low end of her temp. She is taking a bottle every other feed and she now weights 4lbs 12oz. I am still working through my guilt and frustration and saddness. We are now on our own. Liams parents left bright and early this morning and are headed home. They have been great about getting me back and forth from the hospital everyday and taking care of Rose as I healed. We could not have made it through these past weeks without them.

2 steps forward

One step back. Anwyn is back in the isollet after not being able to maintain her own body temp. She is also having problems breathing and eating and has repeatedly stopped breathing and turned blue for past two days. She has gained weight and she is now 4lbs and 10oz. They are telling us now that for every episode she has (stops breathing) they add on another 5 days. She will be in the hospital for many weeks to come. The 45 min drive is tiring us out but we keep going. Liams parents have been kind enough to stay with us these past two weeks and will be leaving on Friday. Rose is doing well but wants her baby to come home. Liam and I are on edge and constantly exhausted but still hanging in there. My body feels beaten and my heart feels torn but so far my spirit is not broken.

Lonely

Anwyn is still working to keep up her temp. She is boarder line so we never know if she is going to go back into the incubator. She is still having problems eating on her own. We don't want her home before she is ready but I miss her very much. I missed going in today and my heart is breaking. I am still grieving for the last two months of pregnancy and the fact I will never be pregnant again. My heart is heavy these days. I miss her and wish I could I have her home with me.
